"The most beautiful thing we can experience

is the mysterious.

It is the source of all true art and all science.

He to whom this emotion is a stranger,

who can no longer pause to wonder

and stand rapt in awe,

is as good as dead:

his eyes are closed."

After a ten hours drive time, a dinner of fried pizza, two beers and having suffered several mosquito bites, this is the first thing I see after stepping foot upon the beach at the mouth of the Little Pic River, Neys Provincial Park, Northwest Ontario.

Mother Nature at Rest

Distant thunder rumbles during the intermission of a Kathryn Wheatley concert at the Rock Island Lodge, Wawa, Ontario.

Rock Island Reflectioins I

The passing of an August storm liberates us from incandescent illumination. Candles burn and as we enjoy the sounds of Mother Nature accompanied by Catherine Wheatley's accoustic guitar and Sahra Featherstone's harp.

"Twenty years from now

you will be more disappointed

by the things you didn't do

than by the ones you did do.

So throw off the bowlines.

Sail away from the safe harbor.

Catch the trade winds

in your sails.

Explore.

Dream.

Discover."

I witnessed this little party within site of my late father-in-law's resting place, just across the cove. I am reminded that life goes on and it should be celebrated!

Wearing his late father's signature hat, "that damn Andy" and I paddle toward the De Havilland Beaver, serial number 0023, to greet and assist the rest of our party.

"Wilderness is a necessity ...

they will see what I meant in time.

There must be places for human beings

to satisfy their souls.

Food and drink is not all.

There is the Spiritual."

The reflection of a full moon through these budding trees caught my eye as I wandered off to an intoxicating slumber.

It is easy in the world

to live after the world's opinions;

it is easy in solitude

to live after your own;

but the great man is he

who in the midst of the crowd

keeps with perfect sweetness

the independence of solitude.

I know a lake where the cool waves break

And softly fall on the silver sand:

And no steps intrude on that solitude,

No voice, save mine, disturbs the strand.

After helping Nicholai across this flooded stream, I returned to capture this cluster of buttercups for a cameo of sorts.

There comes a time
